Hehe. Everything always seems to start with a chuckle with me. I chuckle in the bathroom, chuckle while walking and chuckle in my head! So, have been awash in my MP3s today, having revived my Sister Hazel mania after I heard Life Got In The Way on the radio just before I left for the office. There’s no logic to my music from the beautiful It’s A Beautiful Thing and the spiritual Let Your Love Flow (both by Sister Hazel), to the retro Round and Round to the soulful Baby Don’t You Break My Heart Slow which made me chuckle because it so sounds like a Capricorn theme song (not mine at the moment, just in general). Which made me remember this song DeeDee and I labeled the classic Cancer song. Which gave me the idea that Kissing a Fool would then be the classic Scorpio song!
1. Capricorn theme song
Baby Don't You Break My Heart Slow by Vonda Shepard
But I'd rather you be mean than love and lie
I'd rather hear the truth and have to say goodbye
I'd rather take a blow at least then I would know
But baby don't you break my heart slow
I like the way you'd hold me
Every night for so long baby
And I like the way you'd say my name
In the middle of the night
While you were sleeping
I was believing in you
Was I mistaken
Do you mean, mean what you say
When you say our love could last forever
2. Scorpio Song
Kissing A Fool by Michael Buble
You are far
When I could have been your star
You listen to people
Strange that you were strong enough
To even make a start
You’ll never find peace of mind
People
You can never change the way they think
Better let them do just what they will
For they will
If you let them steal your heart from you
People will always let a lover feel a fool
But you knew I loved you
Fooled me with the tears in your eyes
Covered me with kisses and lies
So goodbye but please don’t take my heart
You are far
I’m never gonna be a star
I’ll pick up the pieces to mend my heart
Strange that I was
You must have been kissing a fool
But remember this
I will wait for you
Like I always do
3. Cancer cares song
Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler
I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you.
I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches
build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growin old with you.
I'll miss you, kiss you, give you my coat when you are cold.
Need you, feed you, I'll even let you hold the remote control.
So let me do the dishes in the kitchen sink
Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink.
Oh I could be the man to grow old with you.
I wanna grow old with you.

my life as a bat
feel like i've been injected with the lethargy bug. i seem to have fallen in love with my blue couch. plus the fact that lately i have discovered the wonderfulness of watching vcd movies in the batcave-like atmosphere of the bottom part of our apartment, especially when the weather turns December (you know December weather :-D ... in my spare time or always, i love observing Filipino English). it's one of those vices i've tried to avoid (like sex). when you start to watch vcds, you can never stop. hahahaha.
it's been a rudie-recommends movies weekend. Under The Tuscan Sun, and Kissing Jessica Stein. Thanks Rudie! Loved them!
More later...

time off for good behavior
... is the title of a book where a faithful and hands-on so-close hubby married to his high school sweetie gets to go on a months-long trip by himself because she can't go and he needs to go decompress so he does, and ...
i only really want to say i need time off!!!! i want to sit in silence, hear myself think, feel what i feel, keep myself company :-D ... haven't had time with me in a while ... in Julia Cameron's book, The Artist's Way, readers have to have dates with themselves once a week. Hmmmm, lovely. Maybe I can have a date with myself and a grilled stuffed squid. We can talk about life. About how I appreciate different things in different people. As I should. It takes all kinds to populate the earth, and it's a plus point for people even that they are lovely by themselves, differently from others. It's not some sort of lack, even as people should grow. It just is. That way. It's kinda amazing though how people are so different, and yet still, I love them all. Hehehehehehe.
So what happens when I eat up all the squid?

love letter
my dearest claudette josephine bonaparte, "hearer" of most (99%) mundane and divine secrets, including kamalditahan hehehehe. let me pause for a moment and laugh. before i launch into this most serious blog. HEHEHEHEHEHE.
right. having got that over with, i think DeeDee that I am tired of men. i don't think i want to have anything to do with them for the next 100 years or so. in fact, why not go and try women?
hihihihihi. as my mother knew the moment i was lifted from her stomach all of 31 years ago... I am an awful liar. But hey, for someone who's honest usually, what's one lie ... one lie to rule them all and find them, and in the darkness bind them.... :-P

The clock ticked on, the wind rustled some leaves, and a minute and an email later, I am different. The story has gone with the moment. Parallel universes spin yet again.

Coming in at midnight from a late but funny meeting, I find that I am happy. A number of aggravations, grouchies and grumpies, plus sulks have winked at me in the last day or two, and I've even gone as far as wrestling with the little rascals, but here I am at the end of a long day, refreshed by the cool night air and the company of kindred souls, and I find that am still sitting on a placid lake of peace that seems to be presently me.

back, out and back again
Hehehehe. There's no comprehending the overall psycho-social-economic effect of not being online! As Katrina understands perfectly! It's especially worse when one has been online and then it stops! Waaaaaaaah. It's like having the school bully take away one's lollipop just when you're getting to the chocolatey center. Grrrrr. And I had just started a perfectly cheerful blog when the lights went out, along with the net. No wonder dogs bark :-P ... Like, huh???

you can wear black to my if-ever wedding
I wanna wear black :-(((((((((. To the wedding :-D. Can I???? Pleaaaaaseeeeeeeee? I WANNA I WANNA I WANNA HUHUHUHUHUHU....
The color motif's aquamarine. I have this nice strappy aquamarine top masquerading as a formal top. That go with my nice black trousers. My nice black trousers go with my nice black shoes. But all three belong to two different universes. Like in Sesame St :-( (which one goes with the other? lalalala)
On the other hand ... I have a brilliant black halter top that would make a cozy threesome with trousers and shoes :D ... I say it would be destiny!!!!
Katrina says I would be OMINOUS and might get sent out of church. TEEHEE. I might get banished out of my dear relatives' photo album for going all-black to a cheerful afternoon wedding hehehehe.

Peculiar Penchants of the Saturnine Capricorn
1. Umbrellas :-P ... hahaha... nice for regular walking in the rain ... great for thumping cars that pass and splash thoughtlessly on your clothes!!! ... takes you safely from work to coffee :-D ... makes it easy to pick you out in a mob (speaking of hot pink 'brellas)
2. Socks ... they ward off evil spirits, and keep illnesses away!! ... hehehe seriously ... they are great for when you're not feeling too well but you're not allowed to get sick!!!
3. No Ice on Sore Throat Days ... no matter how much Arlie argues against it ... how can I deny that I always feel so much worse if I enjoy a drink with ice when am not feeling so hot?! ... does she want me to deny myself? to be not-me? :-(
4. This one's a real third world trick --- put everything in the ref to protect against everything!! Like your toothbrush against cockroaches, sugar from ants, and yourself from rising temperatures. hahahaha.
Questions am bound to ask if we hang out together:
1. When was the last time you washed your bag? (hehehehe you know who you are :-P)
2. Have I asked you this already...? hehehe
H-A-P-P-Y!

Riding the PMS Wave (chasing after the flavours demanded by having a uterus)
Saturday: Hot sun. Great meal. They go together. I thoroughly enjoyed Rudie's and my green mango salad and boneless bangus at Muscuvado Grill. Can't get enough of green mangoes!!!! ... Later having "welcomed" George Bush, the one who wages a war against the women of the world, I departed from my office with a good friend in my bag. Dolphin-friendly Century tuna! Hehehe.
Sunday: There's no day like Sunday! I chanced upon my local carinderia serving hot pork adobo and hot rice. Had it with Arlie's papaya achara! ... Then had tuna pan de sal with coke (added life :-P) then much later had more of the local carinderia's adobo, the chicken version. hehehe, there's no accounting for womb-driven wants!
Monday: Having given up on the case for studying at home (how to read at my study table with my chairs full of clothes, and my table full of piles of papers... how to read on the couch facing the extremely distracting tv... oh and dette was still on the couch :-P... and how to read on the dining table full of glasses and facing the tv at a sidewise angle hehehe), I put on shoe pair #56 (joke!) and went over to my local McDo... WHERE I WAS ABLE TO STUDY!!! ... over my big breakfast omelet and burger with ... vinegar for my PMS ;-)
Tuesday: Tucked wallet under armpit and towing Dette, trotted off to the nearest restaurant serving sliced mangoes with bagoong. YUM. Didn't stop till it was all gone. All gone. All Gone. ALL GOONE. Sob.

Oh my goodness, it's Friday!
GRIN GRIN GRIN. My vacation leave for a week in November has been approved!!! Yes!!!!! I can drink shakes and be merry!!! :-D ... Also, finally got the FDC chapters' much needed long delayed fund requests underway.
I was telling DeeDee earlier how everything in FDC is needing a gender perspective this week! Am doing two briefers with an officemate on women and water, and on women and privatization, then will do one with another officemate on women's perspectives on the 2004 Philippine budget, and then there's a "seminar" on monitoring and evaluation that's also needing gender indicators. hehe. two-three years ago, all of this together would have sent me into a panic --- straight into bed with my head under the pillow!!! but now they are all interesting!!! they make me happy :-D ... am just glad my deadline for my research proposal on women organizing and reproductive health and sexuality got moved a bit. ... guess it's never too late to grow up!
Just came from an hour-long noise barrage in front of city hall, one of a series of protest activities against the Bush visit to the Philippines tomorrow. A sample placard said: Red carpet para kay Bush! Basahan para sa mamamayan! (referring to the Philippine government's red carpet treatment for Bush and it's poor services for the people, described here as being like a rag). Hope we get on tv!!!
Time to freshen up. Must meet my classmates in my research class. We're needing a bit of a powwow.
And my roomie's and my MyMix song of the day goes: Swing swing from the tangles of my heart is crushed by a former love!

Yours is not to question why, yours is just to admire :-D
Bruce was wondering if it's my birthday today hehe. You know when your clothes fit on a particular day and happen to look awright! together, you thank the Goddesses, and accept presents. Hehe. Do I want to be Libran, carrying the scales of justice, forever pondering on the fairness of the world? But I like Librans, they are kinda quirky :-P
Pondering on some of my beloved and esteemed women last night ... if only if only if only if only if only if only people (men!) could let women be! Let them run naked in the streets if they want to, assured that people (men!) respect the integrity of their persons and their bodies, secure that consent was a word people (men!) understood and are able to practice.
When women dress as they want and do as they want, it very often and most likely does not have anything to do with you... men. It might, if you're the one they want to attract (and we also have to deconstruct sometime why what is attractive is what is attractive) but you're not to assume that. You could ask. Politely and respectfully. For as long as you then believe whatever it is that she replies. But just because someone is sexy and attractive, it doesn't mean you can have your way! That you can do what you want, say what you want, because I suppose, in your mind, being a sexy and attractive woman is license for you to do something. Well, **** off! (this has suddenly turned into a parental guidance site! Just thinking about some men is enough to turn your musings into a rant!).
In the meantime, it really is a very unsafe world out there. If you're a woman, you're damned if you don't make yourself attractive (chaka manang old maid etc), and damned if you are (hottie babe slut promiscuous). So what are you supposed to be then, really?!
In the meantime, the dutiful Capricorn worries. But trusts that women will find the strength to somehow teach the world how they want to be treated... if they can stay alive till then.
